KARAOKE: Highlights
Once upon a chance encounter, Dave Chappelle suggested that as a newbie comic, "man, one of the most important things startin' out is to first get comfortable on stages". So to that advice, I began volunteering to host karaoke (on ships) during my bands off nites.
I'd put together a video demo, then months later, drove to Miami, and personally walked it into Carnival Cruise lines Headquarters (with no appointment made). Three months later, I'm offered a 6 month contract hosting karaoke six nights a week!
And from there, my nightly "open karaoke" and karaoke based theme shows were far farrrr beyond your typical "Tuesday nite karaoke at Joe's Bar & Grill". Because, i was NOT the formal standard "karaoke host". I was "a comic / entertainer ... hosting karaoke. And, yes. There's a BIG difference. Haha.
